Ownership & Purchase

Cemetery spaces are issued to the purchaser for cemetery purposes only, and shall be used under the rules and regulations prescribed by the Ladies Social Gathering for such use.

A sales person will have plats available showing the location, size, and price of cemetery space. Payment will be made to Ladies Social Gathering or through the funeral director. The Treasurer will issue a Certificate of Interment with perpetual care upon full payment.

No monuments or markers may be placed until full payment has been made. If payments are not met, the contract is canceled, and money paid is forfeited.

Care & Maintenance

Interment spaces in the Union Cemetery are all sold with perpetual care (20% of the cost of the space). Perpetual care means keeping the surface of such space to a uniform plane, free from noxious weeds or long grass, and regularly mowed.

No mounds shall be permitted over the graves which would prevent the using of a lawn mower over the entire surface of the space.

Interments

All graves shall be opened and closed under the supervision of the salesperson and the caretaker. The family shall designate the location of the grave on the space.

• The caretaker shall have 24 hours notice for opening a grave (36 hours if ground is frozen).
• No interment of other than a human being will be permitted.
• All coffins must be placed in a vault.
• The interment of two bodies in one grave will not be allowed except in cases of parent/infant, twin children, or two children buried at same time.
• The burial of ashes must be in a container, limited to 2 containers in an empty grave space or 1 container may be placed with an existing grave.
• No scattering of remains above ground is allowed.
